Frequently asked questions
Is merging PDFs here really private?▾
Yes. Merge PDF runs entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your files never touch our servers.
Is there a file size limit?▾
50MB per file. Larger files put strain on memory and rarely produce good results in a free tool.
Can I reorder pages during merge?▾
Yes — drag the file thumbnails before merging to set the final order.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?▾
There is no hard limit. We recommend keeping each file under 50 MB and the total under 200 MB for the best browser performance. Heavier merges may slow down on older devices because the work happens locally.
Will merging PDFs reduce the quality?▾
No. Merging is a structural operation that copies pages as-is into the new document — fonts, images, and formatting are preserved exactly. To reduce file size after merging, run the result through our Compress PDF tool.
Does the merged PDF keep bookmarks and links?▾
Bookmarks within each source PDF are preserved in the merged output. Hyperlinks inside pages also remain clickable. Cross-document references between original files are not automatically rewritten.
